Metal deck will be applied to the surface of the dome, thus bracing each curved rib in each rib's weak direction. The curved ribs are designed as pinned at their base and fixed to the face of the compression ring at the top of dome. I have attached a sketch of what I am talking about. The question I have is with regards to unbraced length of the compression members. Movement of the dome is within tolerable limits under load. I have applied the appropriate loads and load cases. I have put the model thru its paces via RISA3D. The dome is not circular, but instead, is faceted. The dome is 50' in diameter and is approximately 27' in height.
